Beyond the Research Report: Turning Evidence into Better Decisions
Research creates value when findings clarify choices, challenge assumptions and guide action—not merely when a report is delivered.
A technically sound study can still leave leaders asking: what does this mean for us?
Evidence needs a decision context
Findings become useful when they are connected to the choice, risk or opportunity the organisation faces. Without that context, more detail can create the appearance of certainty without improving direction.
Interpretation is not decoration
Interpretation tests how the evidence fits together, where it conflicts and which assumptions it supports or challenges. It also distinguishes what the data says from what the organisation hopes it says.
Make implications operational
A useful implication identifies who should consider doing what, under which conditions, and what evidence should be monitored next. That is how research becomes part of decision-making rather than an endpoint.
